Koh Siray is on the eastern side of the southern part of Phuket, separated from the Phuket Island by a small river. This is Phuket’s main fishing port as well as Phuket’s main commercial shipyards of which there are 4 all using the railway track and trolley system for lifting yachts and catamarans. Their original business was Thai fishing boats and ferries but the have now expanded into handling leisure yachts. Cradles are available but bookings must be made in advance.
It is recommended that you provide a photograph or plan of your underwater hull shape to the yard foreman. All yards offer electricity and water, machine shops are nearby and there is local transport to town.
A number of ferries depart for Koh Yao Yai daily from close to the bridge and Rassada passenger terminal has ferries to Phi Phi and Krabi. A third operator has opened up with ferries to Phi Phi and Krabi from the Koh Siray Island side of the river. The river is a very busy port for all kinds of vessels.
